Primary Function: Ambassadors of the museum to the visiting public. The gallery docents interact with gallery visitors and give specially arranged tours of the exhibitions.

Description of Duties: Answer visitors' questions about the exhibition and the architecture of the Tower and give tours of the exhibition. Engage visitors in conversations that reflect on various interpretations as a means for understanding and evaluating works of art. Encourage visitors to return and sample the rich variety of changing exhibitions we offer. Gallery docents are asked to be the 'eyes' of the gallery, reminding visitors to obey the rules of the gallery and not to touch the exhibits.

Time Commitment: We ask gallery docents to commit to at least one three-hour shift a month and conduct one gallery tour per month lasting 30-45minutes. Docents may choose to volunteer any day from Tuesday through Sunday. Docents are encouraged to attend the guided informative tours given by the curator at the beginning of each scheduled exhibition and training sessions.
