BARTLESVILLE, OK – Price Tower Arts Center is hosting a guided tour of historic Oak Park, Illinois and the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago in April. The three day tour will include a number of landmark destinations and will begin in Oak Park on April 22nd and conclude on April 24th.
“This is the trip of a lifetime for fans of Frank Lloyd Wright,” said Price Tower Arts Center Marketing Manager Debra Woodall. “Those on the tour will get to see many of the structures that were part of Wright’s early work.”
The first day will include a visit to Pleasant Home. It was designed by George W. Maher for the John Farson family in 1897. Maher was a significant contributor to the Prairie School-style of architecture.
On the second day, the group will enjoy a guided tour of Unity Temple and attend a Froebel Block Workshop. There will also be a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Home and Studio and a walking tour of Historic Oak Park.
On day three, the group will visit Hyde Park for a guided tour of Robie House. The home was built by Frank Lloyd Wright for the Frederick C. Robie family in 1906. There will also be a walking tour of Historic Hyde Park and Kenwood by architecture historian Paul Kruty.
The cost for the trip is $595 for PTAC members and $635 for others (included is a one-year membership to Price Tower Arts Center). The price includes two nights lodging, some organized meals, and local transportation. Airfare and ground transportation to and from Oak Park is not included.
