Job details

Housekeepers are responsible for cleaning and reporting any safety hazards to the manager. They must complete tasks like vacuuming, sweeping, emptying trash cans, dusting shelves, cleaning windows, and mopping floors, and flipping hotel rooms. Housekeepers will also change linens, iron, and do laundry.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and reset hotel rooms, clean office spaces, and public areas
  • Check rooms and common areas, including stairways and lounge areas, for cleanliness
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning products stock including floor cleaner, bleach, and rubber gloves
  • Participate in large cleaning projects as required
  • Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation policies in all areas

Prep Cook duties and responsibilities

Prep Cooks perform various food preparation, cooking, and cleaning tasks to ensure the kitchen remains efficient in creating and delivering dishes for patrons. Their duties and responsibilities include:

  • Completing all tasks, in order, on the prep list from the Head Chef or other kitchen manager
  • Labeling and stocking all ingredients on easily accessible shelves
  • Washing, chopping, and sorting ingredients like fruits, vegetables, and meats
  • Measuring quantities of seasonings and other cooking ingredients
  • Parboiling food, reducing sauces, and starting the first steps in various dishes
  • Cleaning dishes, washing cooking utensils and cookware, taking out the trash, and sanitizing the kitchen
  • Adhering to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards
  • Keeping track of ingredient inventory and collaborating with other kitchen and management staff to order resupply

Line Cook duties and responsibilities

A Line Cook prepares food using recipes and menu items created by the Head Chef and helps keep the kitchen running smoothly. Some of their key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations
  • Preparing food including cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking main dishes, desserts, appetizers, and snacks
  • Plating prepared foods based on the senior chef’s guidance
  • Working with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time
  • Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of shifts
  • Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations

Cook duties and responsibilities

Cooks are responsible for delivering food that is not only delicious and cooked to the specifications of the customer but that is safe and fresh as well. They often have the following responsibilities:

  • Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh
  • Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients
  • Bake, grill, steam, and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry, and other foods
  • Present, garnish and arrange final dishes
  • Occasionally serve food
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment, and dishes
  • Handle and store ingredients and food
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards

  • Execute opening and closing procedures

  • Check the quality and freshness of ingredients
  • Monitor station inventory levels
